Things to know
- Your HBOMax subscription will auto-renew on your next billing date until you cancel it.
- Cancellation steps vary by provider and may require cancellation at least 1-2 days before your next billing cycle starts.
- Deleting the HBOMax app does not cancel your subscription.
HBOMax subscriptions are available through many providers and the cancellation steps and deadlines vary by provider. If you know who bills you, skip to Step 2.

Step 1: Find out who bills you
You can find out who bills you in Settings. Open HBOMax or go to HBOMax.com and then:
- Phone or tablet: Tap your profile (upper right), then the Settings icon , and then tap or scroll to Subscription.
- Computer: Choose your profile (upper right), then choose Settings, and find Subscription.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon , then choose Account.
Here you can see who your subscription is billed through. (Subscription information is only available with Adult profiles.)
You can also review your bank statement for an HBOMax subscription charge or ask your TV or mobile provider if they bill you for HBOMax.
Step 2: Follow the cancellation steps
Select who bills you for HBOMax and follow the cancellation steps:
App store
Cancellation steps vary by billing provider. You may need to cancel at least 1-2 days before your next billing cycle starts. Choose an app store:
Apple iTunes or App Store
Here's how to cancel your subscription in iOS Settings:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions (if prompted, log in with your Apple ID).
- Find and tap your HBO Max subscription. Can't find it? Make sure you're signed in with the correct Apple ID. For help, go to Apple's Can't find subscription to cancel article.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.

You should get an email from Apple confirming your cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.
Google Play
Here's how to cancel your subscription:
- On the Android phone or tablet, open the Play Store app.
To cancel on your computer, go to Google's Cancel subscription on Google Play article. - At the top right, tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions and then Subscriptions.
- Tap HBOMax in your list of subscriptions, and then Cancel subscription.

You should get an email from Google Play confirming your cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.
Samsung TV
Here's how to cancel your subscription on the web:
- Go to samsungcheckout.com and sign in to your Samsung account.
- From the Purchase History menu, choose Subscriptions.
- Find your HBOMax subscription and then choose Unsubscribe.
Once canceled, you should get an email from Samsung confirming your cancellation. You can continue to stream until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.

TV or mobile provider
Sign in to your provider's website, go to their Help Center, or contact them.
You may need to cancel at least 1-2 days before your next billing cycle starts.
HBO Nordic AB or HBO Europe, s.r.o.
If you're billed through us (HBONordicAB or HBOEurope, s.r.o.), you must cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged. To check your next billing date, go to Settings and choose Subscription.
Phone or tablet
- Open HBOMax and then tap your profile (upper right). Need sign in help?
- Tap the Settings icon and then tap or scroll to Subscription.
- Tap Manage Subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm your cancellation and take note of your expiration date.
Once canceled, you'll get an email from us confirming your cancellation. You can continue to stream until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.

Computer
- Go to HBOMax.com and sign in (if needed). Need sign in help?
- Choose your profile (upper right), then choose Settings, and find Subscription.
- Choose Manage Subscription.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm your cancellation and take note of your expiration date.
Once canceled, you'll get an email from us confirming your cancellation. You can continue to stream until your subscription expires at the end of your billing cycle.
