Here’s where to see fireworks in central Pa. for the Fourth of July weekend (2024)

Independence Day is almost here, and with its impending arrival comes a number of festivities, including firework displays.

Below is a brief rundown of some of the more notable firework-related events happening in the midstate this weekend:

Adams County

Gettysburg: “A Gettysburg Fourth” will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. July 4 at Gettysburg Rec Park, 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg. The event will include live music and food trucks. Fireworks begin at 9:20 p.m. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis for $6. The rain date is July 5.

Cumberland County

Carlisle: The borough will hold its traditional fireworks show, “Stars Burst Over Carlisle,” on July 3 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road. The event is free. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. A DJ will provide music and concession stands will offer food and drink.

Shippensburg: A Fourth of July celebration will be held from 6-10 p.m. July 4 at Shippensburg Memorial Park. The event will include a performance by the Shippensburg Swing Band at 8 p.m. and a candy scramble for kids at 9 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Dauphin County

Harrisburg: The July 4th Food Trucks and Fireworks event will take place from 3-9 p.m. at Riverfront Park in Harrisburg. The event will feature food trucks, live music, a wine garden, kids activities and more. Fireworks will start at about 9:15 p.m. from City Island.

Lower Paxton Twp.: A Fireworks and Food Trucks event will be held from 5-8 p.m. July 3 at Koons Park, 630 Larue St, Linglestown. Fireworks will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m.

Franklin County

Chambersburg: The borough’s Independence Day Festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. July 4 at the Chambersburg Memorial Park, 1 Memorial Dr, Chambersburg. Bands will perform from 5-9:15 p.m. and fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Food trucks and inflatables will also be on hand. The rain date for the fireworks is July 10.

Lancaster County

Elizabethtown: A celebration will be held at the Star Barn, 1160 N. Market Street, Elizabethtown, from 2-9 p.m. on July 3. The event includes a self-guided tour of the Star Barn, a petting zoo, yard games and more. Tickets are $25 per vehicle for online tickets (up to 8 passengers) or $30 at the gate; $40 per large (9 – 15 passengers) vehicle online or $50 at the gate; and $100 per oversized (16–23 passengers) vehicle or $110 at the gate. VIP tickets are $99. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m.

Lititz: The borough will hold a July 4th Celebration from noon to 10:30 p.m. July 3 at Lititz Springs Park, 24 N Broad St., Lititz. Tickets are $15 for ages 11 and older and $5 for age 3-10. Kids under 3 are free. All tickets must be pre-purchased. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Mountville: The annual fireworks display will be held July 3 at Froelich Park, 350 W Main St, Mountville. The rain date is July 10.

New Holland: The New Holland Concert Band will perform from 7-9 p.m. July 4 at the New Holland Park, 400-498 E Jackson St., New Holland. Fireworks will follow the concert. The rain date is July 5.

Quarryville: The 46th Anniversary Grand Demolition Derby will take place at 7 p.m. July 3 at Buck Motorsports Park, 900 Lancaster Pike, Quarryville. The event will conclude with a fireworks display. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-12. Admission for children under 5 is free.

Lebanon County

Lebanon: This year’s fireworks display will be held at 9 p.m. July 4 at Coleman Memorial Park, 1400 W. Maple St., Lebanon. The rain date is July 5.

Perry County

New Bloomfield: Fireworks will be held at 10:30 p.m. July 3 as part of this year’s Fireman’s Carnival, located at New Bloomfield Elementary, 300 W. High St., New Bloomfield. The carnival runs from June 29 to July 3.

York County

Hanover: The borough’s fireworks display will be held at 9:30 p.m. July 4, behind the Lowe’s off Wilson Avenue.

New Freedom: The Lions Club will host a fireworks display at 11 p.m. July 9 at the carnival grounds, 150 E. Main St., New Freedom. The event is part of the Lions Club Carnival, which runs July 6-10. There will also be a smaller fireworks display for kids at 9:30 p.m. July 7.

Red Lion: Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m. July 3 at Fairmount Park, 108 Boundary Ave., Red Lion.

Springettsbury Twp.: Fireworks will be held at approximately 9:15 p.m. July 4, following a performance by the band Stonewood at 7 p.m. at Springettsbury Township Park Amphitheater, 1501 Mount Zion Road, York.

Stewartstown: Fireworks are scheduled to take place at 9:30 p.m. July 3 at Hopewell Area Rec & Parks, 16 College Ave., Stewartstown. There will be a musical performance at 6 p.m. The rain date is July 5.

Wrightsville: The borough will hold a Fourth of July Celebration on July 5. Barbecue chicken will be sold from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hope UMC Church parking lot, 404 Hellam St., Wrightsville. A full dinner is $9. A half chicken is $6. The Rotary Club of Eastern York will sell French fries and funnel cakes at 6 p.m. on the lawn by the John Wright Restaurant, 234 N. Front St., Wrightsville. The Twin Rose Community Band will perform a patriotic concert there at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the restaurant.

York: Fireworks will be held at approximately 9:30 p.m. July 4 after the York Revolution vs. the Lancaster Barnstormers baseball game at PeoplesBank Park, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York. The game starts at 6 p.m. There will also be live music and children’s activities.
