Geary County Schools, located in the Flint Hills region surrounded by beautiful Kansas sunshine, lakes, and rivers is home to fourteen elementary schools, two middle schools, and one career academy focused high school serving the communities of Junction City, Grandview Plaza, Milford and Fort Riley.
The district also offers an early childhood program, all-day kindergarten, and English Language Learner classes. USD 475 is a diverse district, with over 40 languages spoken by our families and students from all over the world.

Mentoring
USD 475 doesn’t just place teachers in classrooms; we work to equip them with the tools necessary to be successful. We offer opportunities for growth through:

USD 475 offers a three-year mentoring program for teachers new to the profession, as well as a two-year mentoring program for experienced teachers that are new to the district.Teachers new to the profession are assigned a mentor that will work personally with them for their first two years of teaching. Four meetings are held throughout the year with mentors and mentees, facilitated by the District Mentoring Program Facilitators. The mentor will also check in with mentees at least once a week.
Innovative Schools

USD 475 prides itself on bringing the best in innovation and technology into our schools. Outside institutions have recognized our commitment to these principles and awarded our district and schools a number of grants.
Biology and social studies e-textbooks ensure that students receive the most up-to-date instruction possible. High school students conduct classwork on state-of-the-art lab equipment. Livestream and green screen technology give students hands-on media experiences, promoting student learning as well as offering a community service by streaming events online.
1-to-1 Laptops
As of the 2015-16 school year, 3-8th-grade students are equipped with individual laptops as part of USD 475’s 1-to-1 initiative. The laptops allow students and teachers to collaborate on assignments and research both in and out of the classroom through the use of OneNote. They also provide instant access to grades, meal account balances and attendance information through Skyward Family Access.
